Surfing the English Channel instilled a strong passion for the ocean in a young Richard Kotch, shoot he’ll tell you surfing has saved his life more than once. but the physically and mentally refreshing qualities of a day in the surf are what draw him in every day. Today the pair is at their buddy Malfitani’s place in Micronesia, where only occasionally some weary traveler will pose the question: is today a good day to surf? Richard’s answer exemplifies his zeal for life, “Every day is a good day to surf!!

Richard and Amy met on small islands in the middle of great oceans where they dance on the waves and sit around a fire at night listening to the words of their elders.

At the Hudhuranfushi Island Resort Richard and Amy Kotch live the dream as live-in surf guides. Wake up, start the coffee, they’re looking straight out the front at Lohis, arguably the most consistent wave in the Maldives. A setup like this allows Richard and Amy to share their passion for life with people from all walks of life.
