Athlete Update: Jonathan Cheever

US Snowboarding SBX & ZEAL athlete Jonathan Cheever is currently in Veyzonnaz, Switzerland living the dream. Here is a quick update from the man himself:

“A week ago, Alex Deibold, Graham Watanabe and myself flew over to Austria to get some pow riding in before our dual World Cup’s in Switzerland. The rest of our team stayed behind in the States riding on ice while we were drowning in powder.

Even though it is only mid January, I feel this winter is going to fly by. Through February 29th, I am only scheduled to be home for 8 days. Rather than looking forward to the rest of my winter, I am trying to concentrate on these next races as I need to podium or I am not making it to my other events… and/or going into serious credit card debt.

Well enough whining. Enjoy some of the photos from my five consecutive pow-days in Austria and wish me luck on my next few events.

-Cheever.”

A view of Bezau, the village I was staying in, at 6:30 am. I could move to Austria...the Schnapps may kill me though.

Graham in front and me tailing. My Trancend SPPX goggles told me I had 2.112 seconds of hang time and hit a booter we built going 68.5 MPH. (PHOTO: Alex Deibold)

Poma accessed natural hip… 1 min turn around.

Same Poma…. But this is a small head wall. No one rides off piste here.

There are three landings to this cliff drop…. Guess which one is mine.

Sussane Moll of the Austrian Snowboard team has a hut in the middle of the mountain. There is also a birdhouse, when I opened the birdhouse, two schnapps glasses and a bottle appeared. Prost! (PHOTO: Alex Deibold)
