See a better World with Zeal Optics

To be truly Eco Conscience, one must be proactively aware of how you can make a difference. Wink and I lived in Japan for nearly 10 years and you begin to understand how dense population can have a severe impact on the quality of living, especially in the cities. The Japanese recycle religiously. It is just a part of their being. Wink grew up on a ranch and the recycling of vegetable and animal by-products for creation of new sustaining crop production was a way of life. So recycling also is a way of life with Zeal. When they built their world headquarters in Moab, Utah in 1999, that the Jackson utilized recycled styro-foam forms for the structure, low e windows and radiant water heated floors for an incredible savings in overall energy consumption. Up to 80% savings in energy over a traditional office building.

So what about the eyewear? In 2000, Zeal developed and offers complimentary with all eyewear, a hard carrying case which has cut broken frame and lens returns in half. From two years ago, this case has been made from 30% recycled plastics. At that time, we started to research how we could incorporate recycled materials into our frames. Strength and integrity of the frame is of utmost importance so maintaining a very pure state in recycled nylon is essential. Three of our latest frames: Flyer, Emit and Swap It feature up to 30% in recycled frame materials.

Additionally, Zeal has developed an exclusive lens color, ZB 13 Polarized which virtually eliminates the need for additional lenses. We have found that most people don't want to interchange their lenses and most do not have a need to do so. So why make them? It is just wasteful, added Michael. Zeal sponsored extreme skier, Kent Kreitler authored a signature snow goggle made out of recycled inner tubing from car tires and was an astounding success with the eco consumer.

Enough? Well not yet. The Zeal team is passionate about recycling. We recycle all our incoming boxes as much as possible and let our customers know with Zeal's stamp of approval on each recycled box. It just what we have to do, expressed Melissa Edge, office leader in the Moab head office. Any boxes not able to be utilized, plus glass, plastic and cans from personal consumption are recycled to the local Moab Recycling center on a biweekly basis.

Zeal is not done yet.... Zeal recycles used Zeal eyewear and upgrade eyewear to charities that need eyewear. It is a perfect way to create less waste and give more.
