For Vancouver-based snowboarder, Tamo Campos bleeds backcountry. Just 11 days young, his paps securely placed Tamo in his backpack and headed for the hills. Trading powder days for school, riding became a way of life for Tamo and shaped a rewarding path for him to travel.
Over the past three years, Tamo has turned his efforts towards environmental and social activism through a volunteer-based collective called Beyond Boarding. Since its inception, this humanitarian project has brought awareness and provoked positive change amongst thousands from Northern BC to Peru.
"As snowboarders, we spend a huge amount of time in the mountains. They give us snowboarders our enjoyment, so it's our responsibility to protect them." Tamo has turned snowboarding from a means of feeding his self-worth into a platform on which to inform youth about political and social injustices in their own backyard. Pursuing his passion while building relationships along the way is what makes his journey stand out from the crowd.
"I'm stoked to be riding shades that are made out of plants and supporting ZEAL because of its willingness to reduce our carbon footprint."
