Meet National Forest Foundation

Our national forests and grasslands are at the core of America's natural riches and yet today these treasures are threatened by unprecedented challenges. Working with the U.S. Forest Service and partners, our goal is to leverage our best thinking, conservation capacity, and community action to measurably improve the health of our national forests and grasslands. Our programs strive to: 1) Unite the power of diverse interests and communities in collaborative stewardship; 2) Restore ecosystems to their natural resiliency and functions through on-the-ground conservation; 3) Engage Americans, young and old, in recognizing the gifts of out national forests and grasslands and in caring for them; 4) Sustain the commitment and ability of communities to serve as stewards by building the capacity of collaborative organizations; and 5) Add value where action would not otherwise be taken.

The National Forest Foundation, chartered by Congress, engages Americans in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the 193-million-acre National Forest System, and administers private gifts of funds and land for the benefit of the national forests.

The National Forest Foundation promotes the enhancement and public enjoyment of the 193-million-acre National Forest System. By directly engaging Americans and leveraging private and public funding, the NFF improves forest health and Americans' outdoor experiences. The NFF's programs inform millions of Americans about the importance of these treasured landscapes. Each year, the NFF restores fish and wildlife habitats, plants trees in areas affected by fires, insects and disease, improves recreational opportunities, and enables communities to steward their National Forests and Grasslands.
